A couple updates I’d like to highlight:

A few updates on the PCI project:

  • PCI-China released the 2020-Q2 update, which sheds light on China’s post-COVID priorities.
  • The PCI launched a new algorithm, PCI-Outbreak (an incubating PSL model), to monitor the severity of COVID-19 in China. It was featured in Politico’s China Watcher.
  • In light of recent events, the PCI continues to monitor the Hong Kong protests through the PCI-Crackdown (an incubating PSL model).

Tax-Calculator adopted Jupyter Book for our project documentation.

The Policy Simulation Library (PSL) is a collection of open-source models and software for public-policy decisionmaking.

Recent releases by PSL:

  • US federal income/payroll tax: Tax-Calculator’s documentation got a makeover using Jupyter Book.
  • US federal business tax: Cost-of-Capital-Calculator released 1.1.2, allowing users to update tax depreciation rules by asset type.
  • US fiscal policy: OG-USA, an overlapping-generations model, released 0.6.3, allowing for detailed modeling of universal basic income programs via Tax-Calculator.
  • Reading Chinese tea leaves: PCI-China, part of the Policy Change Index series, released 2020-Q2, shedding light on China’s post-COVID policy priorities.

General announcements by PSL:

  • The Policy Change Index (PCI) series launched PCI-Outbreak, an incubating PSL model, to monitor the severity of COVID-19 in China. It was featured in Politico’s China Watcher.
  • PCI continues to monitor the possibility of a violent crackdown on Hong Kong protesters by Chinese military, through PCI-Crackdown (an incubating PSL model).
