I’m reading through the Taxing the Rich paper by Lily Batchelder and David Kamin. It looks like some PSL models were used to estimate some of their numbers. It’d be cool if we could create notebooks that model the proposals that they outline in the paper as best we can using PSL models. Here’s a list of the main policy proposals that they put forward:
- “Dramatically Raising Top Rates on Labor and Other Ordinary Income”
- “Accrual Tax”
- “Wealth Tax”
- “Financial Transactions Tax”
Does anyone have a sense of whether we could model these? It seems like we could do the first bullet point, and perhaps, use OG-USA’s new wealth tax for the third. But, I don’t know what our business tax modeling capabilities are.
